First, like Erods game last season, think he could be a solid contributor moving up and down the lineup.

that would be very cool...I like his game and I think he plays a style that will fit very well with what they're trying to do

Much needed speed for the bottom six, and definitely that line in particular.

Unrelated, but with the saddledome only marginally older than the keybank center, and because people always complain about the narrow concourses in the KBC, does this mean that within the next ten years, it will be demoed?

Maybe that's why the Pegulas bought the high temp fabrication building next door, in order to build an arena on that site. The only other option would be to get a new arena in Roch first and then play a year there while a new arena was built on the same site. Or they just take the 300 level off and rebuild that.

Saw Dunkirk last night... Is it bad when you think the lack of blood and guts is strange for a film about war?

Also, good blog Pach-Adams

Edit: Loved the movie

He should be top 6 and first PP I would think. Who knows though, hockey execs are stupid sometimes and they go for a "sure thing" like a guy who's played in the Lithuanian elite league for 10 years over unproven talent. See: Kessel snub

Brining back the two line pass would suck.

I am torn with this.

I love the long stretch breakaway passes, but I get why some people think it would get rid of the trap (but in the end it really won't good coaches will find a way to clog the zone anyway).

If they could eliminate the trap that would be huge, a larger playing surface is really the only way to curb the trap.

That was never a problem for '06-'09 when defensemen had to stay in their lane when the opposing forward enters the zone chasing the chip in or they would get an interference penalty. Now defensemen are allowed to move over a bit and slow down (read: interfere with) the forward

That doesn't eliminate the neutral zone trap though.

Teams found a way to just put 4 or 5 guys in the neutral zone.

See the Flyers Lightning game in 2011.

It's awful.

I like Erod a lot just don't think he fits into the lineup opening night. I really think Reinhart goes to 3rd line center. Larson plays 4th line center. And Girgenson plays on O'Reilly's. You might see Bailey or maybe Erod on Eichel's line with Kane. Pommer with Reinhart. But we'll see

I remember not too long ago that Ted Black mentioned that the KBC was maintained really well, so in terms of "upgrades" or major changes, probably not going to happen.

Considering that Pegula seems to be putting up a wall in terms of even getting a new stadium for the Bills, I wouldn't expect to see the KBC even remotely be talked about as needing to be replaced any time soon.

The corridors in the 300s are for sure an issue though. I think a lot of that could be relieved by figuring out a better way to have the lines for the concessions configured though. That's a big part of what clogs up the corridors during intermission.

The trap was implemented with good success by the devils in the '90s and early 2000s though. I don't think eliminating the stretch pass would make it better. Just call the penalties as they used to and it'll clear itself up imo.

As for making the rinks bigger, I'd like to see a system where NHL teams can make their rink any size between the Olympic sized rink and current NHL rink size so each rink would be unique
